Your wedding day is the story of you as a couple.

It is the journey from the first time you meet (or even before!) to now. As an elopement and wedding officiant, I want to help honor that story and begin the next chapter off right. I am a storyteller by design, whether it is sitting around a campfire with friends, writing and sharing letters with loved ones, or crafting epic stories in the forms of novels, I recognize the power that a story holds. Stories are how we share lessons and feelings, culture and tradition. A good story is one of the most powerful things in the whole world.Think of me as your proverbial guide, a friend who is here to lead you through a transitional moment in your journey and onto bigger and greater things. My number one goal for your wedding day is to make the two of you shine. My ceremonies are filled with the hope I hold for you two as you start your journey together. I want to create a space for the two of you to pause and reflect, to take a step back amidst the planning and chaos to forge a powerful connection to one another. Having held so many different roles in weddings, from the officiant, to the groom, to the best man, to the groomsman, to the photographer, to the guest, I've learned a few secrets to help create the best experience and photos possible. I'll pass on these tips and tricks I've picked up over the years (like how to look at each other during the ceremony, because yes you will forget!) and be sure to give you a private moment for your vows and your first kiss.So how do we do that? As someone who has written and delivered countless speeches - and has heard a fair number of wedding ceremonies - I’ve got you covered. I keep my musings brief, as your wedding day belongs to you, not me. Then, I bring us all into a sacred space of intentional relationship building and vulnerability, where the strongest bonds are forged. Once we arrive there, I open space for both of you to say the secret words written on your hearts, the vows and oaths to one another. Then, as quickly as we arrived, we leave this ethereal space, and I close out the ceremony. I handle the legal items and you walk away as partners, legally wedded, having closed one chapter and started another.

So, who's this stranger I'm trusting on my wedding day?

Hi, I'm Keith. It started from a few weddings that I second shot with my wife Lynn, who's a wedding photographer (she's the owner of Lynn Lewis Photography and took all the photos on this website!) We started talking about what we really loved about being in the wedding industry. One thing that stood out was how much we enjoyed the relationships we got to build with couples - it was so much more than just one day, it was a journey that we got to take with them and even sometimes continued to grow after the wedding day was over. So we started hosting dinners in our home, inviting couples for taco night (my secret diet tacos, I lost 30 pounds eating them!) or coffee dates. Everywhere we travelled, we would meet up with fellow photographers and share stories. And then the pandemic hit. Something that was so near and dear to our hearts was suddenly gone. For three months we had our noses to the grindstone. Lynn was working with clients to reschedule and I was in the middle of managing an emergency operations and response team. That's where the idea of becoming an officiant came up. Before long, I was officiating elopements and weddings up and down the Big Sur coast.I had always loved telling stories - from short stories I wrote for Lynn (pro tip - when trying to write on a typewriter, slow and steady is key to avoid having to start over), to two novels I’ve completed for the NaNoWriMo challenge, to adventures for my weekly D&D campaigns. Telling a good story gets me excited, and there is no story more exciting than a love story. Every twist and turn in a relationship is unique, and I can never get enough of hearing other people’s stories (ask me about how I stalked Lynn in high school some time). Truth be told, I'm a romantic at heart (and a 2 on the enneagram) and I want to bring those warm fuzzy feelings to everyone I meet. I'll always be there to lend a hand, even if we just met (for the gamers out there, I always pick Tank or Healer in RPGs). To me, that is what life is all about, chasing the eternal goal of making the world a better place, one small step at a time.
